Centuries of history can be uncovered with a tour of Newark Castle - from housing King John in his final days to its part-destruction in the Civil War. Two tours are given by the warden this Wednesday: a dungeon tour at 11am (booking required by 10.30am) and across the towers and undercroft at 1pm (which must be booked by 12.30pm). Book online then visit the ruined castle on the River Trent, at Castle Gate in Newark.
